TAKING CONTROL

A group of young people set sail for an adventure of growth and discovery on the Leeuwin. This 16 minute audio documentary was produced by Barking Wolf in 2019 to promote messages of diversity and inclusion for people with vision impairment. Made in partnership with Leeuwin Ocean Adventures and VisAbility.

This sound-based documentary questions the Australian ideal of home ownership and the history behind Perth’s peculiar housing obsession. From urban planning experts, to those living without a home, this documentary foregrounds stories of the human side of housing, opening new conversations around Perth’s urban living conditions and the future aspirations of its residents.

Banned from the Perth city centre without permits, Aboriginal people responded to discrimination by setting up their own club outside city limits. Hear how dance and politics combined at the Coolbaroo Club in the move towards self determination.
