The Western Australian Museum approached Barking Wolf to produce a pilot podcast series in response to current and past history projects within the great southern region of the state.

Over roughly 18 months we carried out interviews with historians, academics and community members which eventuated in three in-depth and immersive audio documentaries that balance history-telling with scenic and emotive sound design.

Stories of the Great Southern

Episode 1 - Eclipse Island

This is an immersive deep dive starting with brutal events that took place on the island in the early nineteenth century. We explore life on the island for lighthouse families and return home to learn about the islands role as a haven for migratory birds.

We're here to understand what is in a name?

From Menang Noongar knowledges to French and European explorers of the past; how has our understanding of Albany as a place been influenced as we begin the Restoring Place-Names project?
